Hey Kula folks... it's Anastasia, Kula founder here with a special note about the 'becoming' of this Kula. Last year, I took all of Kula's packaging and fulfillment in house (I had previously used a fulfillment center) - and my first employee was a young man named Soren. Soren is the type of employee that everybody would want... I tell him to leave work early, and he never does because he can always fit in a 'few more things'... he cares so much about his job that if he notices that a Kula is folded incorrectly in its package, he'll pull it out and fix it. He trims every loose thread and singes the edges of the Kulas and he knows, before anybody else, if something is 'amuck'.  He can inspect and package over 120 Kulas per hour if he's focused - and I honestly could not ask for anybody better to work with. He's now our Regional Inspection Manager (a title he picked for himself) - and I hesitate to share all of this with you because I don't want anybody to hire him away from me.

One of the things I believe in is that employees need to be able to follow their own path. Nobody grew up saying, "I want to package Kulas all day," - and so, for this, I try my best to encourage all of the people who work for Kula to use our incredible environment as a platform for their own ideas. So - when Soren came to me last year and said, "I have an idea for a Kula"... I listened.

He pitched it to me like this: "I want an alpine scene with a moon and a flamingo drinking from a stream and a cherry blossom tree coming in from the side." He drew me a sketch of what he was thinking about - and I was sold. "Pick an artist and let's do it", I said.  Soren found an artist (on Fiverr)... and he drew a mock to submit to the artist and Kula purchased the commercial rights to the art.

And so, it is with great excitement that I present to you a conceptual scene from within the wildest imagination of our Regional Inspection Manager, Soren. I'm so proud of him and proud of what he brings to Kula every single day and it has been such a treat to watch his idea come to life. I hope you love it as much as we do and I hope it reminds you that all of your dreams, no matter how whimsical or fantastical they seem, are always possible if you believe that they are.

About the conceptual artist, Soren Ronning:

Soren Ronning is the Regional Inspection Manager for Kula Cloth, but he's a lot more than that. He's an avid rollerskater, a full time robotics student, an ardent devotee to a wide variety of music, collector of jackets, part time sword-maker and all-around hard worker and creative human. He brings dedication and passion to everything he does and the Kula team would not be the same without him.

Here are the boring facts about a Kula (note: I cut and pasted this because it's too boring to write out every single time)....

- super absorbent (absorbs 10x its weight in water!) and soft

- advanced silver-infused, antimicrobial fabric

- eco-friendly non-toxic materials (Bamboo Viscose, Cotton, Organic Cotton, Polyester)

- durable and waterproof 'clean' side so your hand doesn't get wet

- easily snaps to backpack using plastic snaps

- 'double snap' allows cloth to hang while folded in half (so it doesn't touch pack and/or get dirty on the trail)

- easy to clean or rinse and quick to dry

- retro-reflective thread detail for locating it at night with your headlamp

- size is approx 6x6 inches

- weight per cloth is .63oz (note: the artist series Kulas are slightly larger than the stock print Kulas due to a different process that we use to custom print each item individually)

- proudly made in the USA
