Nothing exists in itself as a separate entity. Sure, we walk around and definitely talk like our poo doesn't stink... but when it comes down to it, we are a heap of cells that is fueled by the sun, the rain, the stars a

About Backyard Basecamp:

Backyard Basecamp, Inc is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to (re)connect Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to land and nature. The organization was founded by a pediatric nurse who continuously found herself as being one of the few, if not the only Person of Color in many environmentally focused classes and workshops. She has since dedicated her time to slowly (re)introducing her community to nature by starting in their own backyards and eventually embarking on a journey into the many wild spaces across Baltimore. Backyard Basecamp owns and operates BLISS Meadows, a 10-acre land reclamation project in Baltimore City, a multi-use site that houses an urban farm with chickens, goats, and honeybees, 7-acres of woods, 2 freshwater ponds, and provides fresh produce to their community. The leaves on this kula display the types of trees many youth in our programs have come to know and love while exploring the grounds at BLISS.

Here are the boring facts about a Kula (note: I cut and pasted this because it's too boring to write out every single time)....

- super absorbent (absorbs 10x its weight in water!) and soft

- advanced silver-infused, antimicrobial fabric

- eco-friendly non-toxic materials (Bamboo Viscose, Cotton, Organic Cotton, Polyester)

- durable and waterproof 'clean' side so your hand doesn't get wet

- easily snaps to backpack using plastic snaps

- 'double snap' allows cloth to hang while folded in half (so it doesn't touch pack and/or get dirty on the trail)

- easy to clean or rinse and quick to dry

- retro-reflective thread detail for locating it at night with your headlamp

- size is approx 6x6 inches

- weight per cloth is .63oz (note: the artist series Kulas are slightly larger than the stock print Kulas due to a different process that we use to custom print each item individually)

- proudly made in the USA
