An Eco-Conscious Guide to Austin Psych Fest

Austin Psych Fest 2026 is just around the corner! Taking over the big backyard at The Far Out Lounge from May 08, 2026–May 10, 2026, this three-day journey offers a wide-ranging exploration of psychedelic sound.

Whether you're a local or visiting for the weekend, here is everything you need to know to navigate the fest like a pro.

🚌 Logistics: Getting There & Around

The Far Out Lounge is located in South Austin. Because on-site parking is extremely limited (approx. 300 spots) and valet is $20 per day, we highly recommend alternate transportation.

  • Rideshare: Use the designated drop-off/pick-up spot at the North West corner of the venue (South Congress & Ralph Ablanedo Dr).

  • Public Transit: Take the 801 Rapid Bus from downtown. Nearby Park + Rides include Southpark Meadows, South Congress, and Westgate.

  • Parking: If you must drive, there is a large lot at Ralph Ablanedo Dr and Peaceful Hill Ln (5–7 min walk) or an H-E-B grocery store nearby.

Entry: GA gates open at 2:30 PM Fri/Sun and 3 PM Sat. GA holders enter via the south side or Ralph Ablanedo entrance.

🎒 Packing Recommendations

Be prepared for the Texas elements and long hours on your feet.

  • Bags: Small purses and backpacks are allowed.

  • Cameras: Disposable, point-and-shoot, and removable lens cameras are permitted.

  • Essentials: Bring a refillable water bottle, portable charger, sunscreen (SPF 30+), and a hat.

  • Clothing: Wear comfortable shoes for dusty grounds and light layers for the evening.

  • Prohibited Items: Leave chairs, outside food/drink, umbrellas, tripods, and camping gear at home.

🌿 Sustainable Festival-ing: Deep Dive

The largest contributor to a festival's carbon footprint is travel. Help keep Austin weird and clean by following these tips:

Transport & Travel

  • Carpooling: Carpooling with four passengers can save roughly 70% of carbon emissions compared to driving alone.

  • Public Transit: Use the 801 Rapid Bus or other local transit to significantly lower your CO2 output.

Waste Reduction & Management

  • Ban Single-Use Plastics: Avoid bringing plastic water bottles. Instead, use a refillable bottle and take advantage of on-site water stations.

  • Bin Literacy: Keep food waste separate from recyclables; contamination can cause an entire batch of recycling to be sent to a landfill.

Eco-Friendly Hygiene & Safety

  • Leave No Trace (LNT): Follow LNT principles by disposing of all waste in designated bins.

  • Hygiene: Use the facilities and your Kula Cloth to stay fresh and avoid introducing toxins into the local environment.

  • Hydration: High heat can sneak up on you; hydrate consistently throughout the day.

  • Meeting Point: Cell service can be unreliable in crowds. Set a designated meeting spot with your group upon arrival.

Water & Energy Conservation

  • Conserve water in the restrooms; every drop counts.

  • Turn off lights and A/C in hotel rooms or rental properties when leaving.

  • Look for battery charging stations powered by solar energy, if available, instead of using fossil fuel generated electricity.

Conscious Consumption & Local Support

Your choices as a consumer have a direct impact on the festival's footprint. Support a circular economy with these mindful habits:

  • Sustainable Vendors: Prioritize food trucks and artisans that use compostable packaging and locally sourced ingredients.

  • BYO Containers: Bring your own reusable food containers and utensils to eliminate the need for single-use disposables when grabbing a bite.

  • Mindful Purchases: Shop from brands that actively promote sustainability and Leave No Trace principles. Supporting companies that give back to public lands ensures your festival spending aligns with your values.

🎸 Navigating the Venues

The fest features two main stages: the Willie Stage and the Janis Stage.

  • No Overlaps: Performances are scheduled so you can catch every artist without missing a beat.

  • Re-entry: If you are 21+, you can leave and re-enter the venue, making it easy to grab local food trucks across the street.

  • Night Shows: Keep the party going with late-night shows at downtown venues like The 13th Floor, Mohawk, and Elysium.

🌟 Meet the Kula Team!

We are thrilled to announce that two of our Kula Cloth Press Team, Elizabeth and Miche, will be on-site throughout the weekend capturing content and spreading the Kula magic. If you see them, say hi!
