Welcome to the Dance Experiment - What to Expect!
Hello dancers - and WELCOME to The Dance Experiment!
For those of you have been doing the Dance Experiment already ... WELCOME BACK. For those of you who are brand new - we genuinely and wholeheartedly welcome you into our 'experimental' dance practice. The goal of the Dance Experiment is simple: Dance everyday and just 'see what happens'. That's it! No expectations... just changing our energy through this beautiful practice together and then watching how it ripples into our lives in unexpected, creative, abundant and joyful ways.
As I write this paragraph, I am celebrating my 730th day of consecutive dancing, and I can say confidently that dancing every single day has changed my life in ways that I never could have imagined. It's truly such a gift, and I feel so unbelievably fortunate to be able to share it with all of you and with our incredible Joy Facilitators who help keep this Dance Experiment going!
For tomorrow's LIVE session at 6:30 AM pacific time - you can be in an area where you will be able to sit for a 10-15 min meditation (a quiet place helps - but any space will do). For the dance portion of the class, you will need to have a relatively obstacle free space and comfortable shoes (or barefoot or socks - your choice!) and some water. If you can't make it to the class LIVE, you will be e-mailed a recording later in the day.
In general, our daily schedule looks like this:
1. LIVE session at 6:30 am pacific time (using the same zoom link all month long!)
2. Later in the day, you will receive an e-mail with the RECORDING from that morning + the link for the meditation and the playlist that you will be dancing to on the following day
Please keep in mind that this is YOUR experiment - and you can dance in whatever way you want to dance and/or are able to dance. Dancing is a personal expression - and so there is no right or wrong way to move. You absolutely DO NOT need to 'keep up' with me and/or attempt to replicate any of my dancing. This is about listening to the music and seeing how you want to express yourself in that moment. You are free to dance with your camera on or off - your preference entirely. You do not have to stand up to do the dancing - you can sit down or lie down - or do whatever works for your body in this moment. Dancing is about connecting to the music and about personal expression - so please feel free to do what feels best to YOU.
I cannot even BEGIN to describe to all of you what a gift it is and continues to be to share this dance experiment with all of you. When I started Dancing in January of 2021, I absolutely did not imagine that I'd be dancing with other people for the second year of my experiment. I can say, with absolutely zero shred of doubt, that I *still* look forward to leading my morning sessions and I still look forward to being a participant in the Dance Experiment even when I'm not leading the sessions. AND, just KNOWING that some of you are out there dancing when I can't make it in person makes me truly happy. I hope that this has been an enriching and rewarding experiment and committment for all of you as it has been for me.
In addition to me (I lead sessions on most Wed/Friday), I am joined by a few of the most amazing humans to help me lead sessions. You will be better off in your own life knowing that humans like Molly, Marie, Bonnie, Amanda, Courtney and Allison all exist in this world. These folks help the dance experiment keep running everyday, and they bring their own unique flair and personality to it. I know that you will love them as much as I do!
