True story: I used to be a park ranger, and when I patrolled the park on the weekends, I smelled like a permanent campfire. One of my duties was wandering around the park at night to make sure that folks were abiding by 'quiet hours'. Sometimes this was a cluster... but, most times, I had the unique opportunity to be on the outside of a campsite ... looking in at the families and friends who were sitting around a campfire telling stories. Even though I couldn't often hear what they were saying, my heart would fill with the warmth of that fire as I watched the smiles on their faces as they laughed and enjoyed each other's company.
Later, I'd drive home... and as I climbed into bed, I'd smell the familiar perfume of campfire smoke and s'mores that was gently clinging to my hair. I loved that smell. As I closed my eyes for the evening, I'd think of all those happy people, and how lucky I was to be the guardian of a park that allowed them to create important memories.

Stephanie’s landscapes capture the forever evolving nature of the great outdoors, utilizing bold colors and concentrated mark-making. “My paintings capture the immense beauty and wonder of our natural world. There is always a story to tell about the outdoors, from the changing environment to the adventures of us humans.
