The Kula x Discovering Wilderness Food Cozy is what happens when ultralight backpacking gear collides with the creativity of Kula Cloth.
Designed in collaboration with Discovering Wilderness, these handmade food cozies help keep your backpacking meals warm while they rehydrate — which means fewer sad lukewarm noodles and dramatically cozier dinners in the backcountry.
But perhaps even more importantly… they help contain food odors and accidental meal leaks. Because if your beef stroganoff explodes inside your puffy jacket in bear country, things have officially taken a turn.

People LOVE this food cozy because it keeps your food warm while it's rehydrating (nobody likes lukewarm backpacking food!).
Plus, it also helps to avoid disastrous in-jacket spills. When you rehydrate your backpacking food in your jacket, you're much more likely to spill food all over yourself... and I don't know about you, but I don't like having mac n' cheese all over me while I'm sleeping in a tent in bear country.
The food cozy is super easy to simply store with your food items in camp (either in a bear hang or in a bear canister!).

Excellent question. Because backpacking meals stay warmer while rehydrating… and because spilling dehydrated lasagna all over your jacket in bear country is not a great idea.

Yes. At approximately 1.2 oz, it is a very light food cozy.

The cozy helps contain spills so your backpack doesn’t smell like curry soup for the next six days. Also, it's easy to store away from camp in your bear canister or food hang.

Yep! Warm water + regular detergent works great. Hand washing and air drying are the best options.

1/4 cu oat milk powder 1 tbsp brown sugar 1/4 tsp cinnamon 3/4 cu rolled oats 15g dehydrated apples crumbled pecans flaxseed + hempseed pinch of salt Combine in a FREEZER (important!) style ziploc bag. Add to food cozy and CAREFULLY pour in boiling water until oatmeal is covered, not swimming, in water. Stir. Let it sit for awhile. Eat, and feel the goodness seeping into your cells.
