The 'Mine' design was originally created for the Kula Cloth art contest as a way to honor female empowerment and bodily autonomy through art. Featuring foraged flowers and the shape of a uterus with the word Mine, the design is a delicate, yet bold reminder that, in this day and age, women still have to lay claim to their own bodies. Inspired by the resilience of both nature and those who adventure through it, Mine is a subtle but really not so subtle statement of strength, self-ownership and bodily freedom.
Kali donates 25% of all her profits from the Mine design, whether it’s a Kula Cloth or a keychain, to organizations that support reproductive freedom.
About the artist, Kali McKeown:
Bio: Kali McKeown is the artist and founder of Sierra Sown, a lifestyle brand that celebrates the intersection of art, adventure, and wild places through the lens of cyanotype art. Inspired by her years as a river guide in the Sierra Nevada, Kali creates nature-inspired designs using the cyanotype process, a sun-printing technique that captures the intricate beauty of the natural world. Creatively combining elements like wildflowers and topographic maps, Sierra Sown offers apparel, accessories, and artwork that bring the spirit of the outdoors to everyday life. Through her art, Kali aims to honor and celebrate our connection to wild places, reminding others to roam on, wild and always in the places they love to play.
