Jennifer's beautiful art won the FOUNDER'S CHOICE AWARD in the Kula Cloth® Design Contest 2024!
Each year, we ask artists to submit designs for our annual design contest... and each year we are absolutely BLOWN AWAY by your unique and infinite creativity.
The Founder's Choice Award winner in our contest is chosen by ME (Anastasia, the founder of Kula Cloth!). Each year, I spend a good few weeks attempting to figure out which one of the beautiful designs I want to chose -- there is no scientific process for this method... rather, it's more of a feeling about the art. We do a lot of art with mountains and landscapes on them -- but this piece really reminded me that there is SO MUCH MAGIC in nature... especially in the small places that we often overlook while we are hiking on the trail. I hope these special little mushrooms remind you of the tiny worlds that exist abundantly in all places of our beautiful planet.     


About the artist, Jennifer Knight: 

I am Jennifer Knight, the owner, illustrator, and designer behind New Wing Studio and a mom of three. As a mom, I have learned there are times when you just need to make someone laugh and other times when you need to make someone feel known, deeply loved, and encouraged. I delight in making products that span this spectrum. I design cards, stickers, and t-shirts that can make you smile or laugh out loud. I also design products that make someone feel seen or speak life and encourage those going through a hard time and struggling. Most recently, I have put my hand drawn designs onto kitchen towels and aprons for those who love to cook & garden. My passion lies in enriching lives with thoughtfully designed, beautiful items that bring joy. Simply said, I desire to “send a little happy into the world.” I hope you find something just perfect for yourself or someone you love in our store.

Here are the details about a Kula, in case you needed to know them:

- super absorbent (absorbs 10x its weight in water!) and soft 

- advanced silver-infused, antimicrobial fabric 

- eco-friendly non-toxic materials (Bamboo Viscose, Cotton, Organic Cotton, Polyester)

- durable and waterproof 'clean' side so your hand doesn't get wet 

- easily snaps to backpack using plastic snaps

- 'double snap' allows cloth to hang while folded in half (so it doesn't touch pack and/or get dirty on the trail)

- easy to clean or rinse and quick to dry

- retro-reflective thread detail for locating it at night with your headlamp

- weight per cloth is .63oz (note: the artist series Kulas are slightly larger than the stock print Kulas due to a different process that we use to custom print each item individually)
